"I began like many little kids do, with stubby crayons and sticks in the sand. It wasn't until I was in an art class and was challenged to express my emotions visually did I realize how strongly art would be a part of my life.  I experimented with different art forms and fell in love with music, book-making,  poetry and any medium that allowed me to tell a story."

Matilda has directed short films and documentaries which have screened at festivals such as SXSW, The Seattle International Film Festival, Montreal's top international 100 shorts, Newport Beach,and the San Antonio Film Festival. She attended Sundance under the mentorship of Cassian Elwes (Dallas Buyer Club), Christine Vachon (Carol) and Lynette Howell (Blue Valentine) as a recipient of the Horizon Award. She believes in appreciating beauty, collecting light, embracing darkness, becoming closer to you, pursuing loneliness, being vulnerable, building shields, nature as a companion,  being honest and making things from one heart to another.
